Back and Forth

Lines, direction, something missing in my life.
Infinity symbol, the endless back and forth, flow of conversation and connection (good, bad, curious, without judgment).
A friend gave me a tiny 1.5″x 2″ handmade paper (or similar) notebook as a gift. It is a meaningful, thoughtful gift from someone who finds purpose, freedom, and connection in so many ways that seem fearless on the outside. She admits the fear is still there, but I sense she’s found a graceful way to cope, move on, and move through.
Envious of that approach to life, I turned to the usual obsession with lines and the infinity symbol for the first entry in this notebook. Perfect? No. Pretty? No. Plain? Yes. Why? Because the first thought was panic, perfection, beauty, art with purpose. The inner critic was strong.
Then, when I picked it up one morning, this came out, and it was spot on.
